Rome was the largest centre of trade in the ancient world. Riches and goods flooded into the city from the many areas Rome conqured and areas even beyond that. With every new province, Rome gained another trading partner. The new province ealso gained another trading partner, so it's a win-win for everyone.
This made Rome rich in everything the world had. And due to the city's amazing system of roads, traders were able to access rome with no or little hardship. To keep the peace, Roman military were sent to enforce laws along the roads, so all traders felt safe travelling foreign lands. Trading Partners |
