How Rome Got Its Name
There is a story behind how Rome got its name. There were twin boys named Romulus and Remus (sons of Mars,the Roman god of war). A uncle took them from their mother and threw them into the Tiber River so they could drown. But the babies floated to land, and a mother wolf took care of them. But after on a man looked after them until they were all grown up. A few years later, Mars told them to build a city where they were found, which was Rome. But one day, Remus made fun of the wall Romulus built. So then they were fighting and Romulus killed Remus.

When Rome became a rich country, it was ruled by kings. But in 509 BC, the Romans took out their last king which was Tarquin. After that Rome became a republic. The republic was ruled by a senate, and senators ran the government. Plebeians has less power. After, Rome became an empire. Rome's best general was Julius Caesar. Julius was about to become emperor until he was murdered.
